The Importance of Practice – Improve Your Vertical Jump
By
You may not know that there is actually a “Vertical Jump Bible.” While you may not need a book to increase your jumping ability, with a few simple tips you can increase your jumping skill and reach (get it?) your full potential.
Although we can’t all be seven feet tall, most people with the right practice can jump an extra six inches by practicing the right way. One important technique is to run stairs. Preferably seven or more floors, and skipping steps here and there, running stairs will really build those important jumping muscles.
Jumping rope is another technique to help build the right muscles, and makes a great warm-up before you do lunges and squats. When doing your deep knee bends, go as low as possible while keeping your back straight. Hold weights in your hands and come up slowly making sure your core is strong and your back is straight. Work on toe raises as well. From a standing position, raise to the balls of your and on to your toes, and then go back down slowly.
Building your core with crunches will also greatly increase your vertical jump. Do multiple sets of crunches everyday to strengthen your abs.
