Is improving your vertical jump difficult?
ByImproving your vertical jump is not that difficult. In fact, if you have the right vertical training program it can be done quite easily. There are a lot of things that you can do that will help. The real question is what things are going to help you a lot and which things are only going to help you a little bit.
There are a lot of little things that you can do. Like Air Alerts, jumping rope, jumping up and down and trying to touch the rim a 100 times etc…but to really improve your jumping you need to increase your power. The stronger you are, the higher you can jump. The only catch is that you don’t have an unlimited amount of time to use this force to jump. You only have about 0.2 seconds to put that strength into a vertical jump. You have much more time to put that force into a lift such as a squat. So being strong will help your vertical jump only if you can put that strength into use in 0.2 seconds or less. This is where plyometrics come in.
Plyometrics is a type of exercise training designed to produce fast, powerful movements, and improve the functions of the nervous system, generally for the purpose of improving performance in a specific sports such as basketball. Plyometric movements, in which a muscle is loaded and then contracted in rapid sequence, use the strength, elasticity and innervation of muscle and surrounding tissues to jump higher, run faster, throw farther, or hit harder, depending on the desired training goal. Plyometrics is used to increase the speed or force of muscular contractions, often with the goal of increasing the height of a jump.
