Getting The Best Vertical Jump: It Really Is Possible
By
One of the most commonly asked questions in sports (especially basketball) is “How do I improve my jump?” Well, you wont be able to dunk right away (unless your 6 foot 5), but there are techniques to help improve your jumping ability, and with some dedication to these exercises you’ll be jumping higher within weeks.
Running faster and jumping higher are related. Some of the same exercises to help you sprint will help you get that extra lift. Practice running and sprinting often. In a vertical jump you only have about .2 seconds to use maximum power and jump as high as you can. The ability to jump high and the ability to accelerate quickly are directly correlated.
Deep knee bends with weights will help you develop the right jumping muscles. Keep your back straight and squat as far as you can. Come out of the bend slowly. Add weights to your deep bend to increase your strength. Follow this with a vertical jump from the squat position.
Running stairs is also a great technique to help develop a better vertical jump. Make sure you are doing at least seven floors of stairs, and try to jump stairs as you reach the top. Keep up these techniques to develop a better vertical jump.
