Get In The Game! Gain An Advantage With The Vertical Jump

547147_larry_bird_2If you love playing basketball and dream about crowds of loyal raving fans, but there always seems to be someone out there better than you, then you know you need to improve your game. Some training in how to improve your vertical jump seems in order. But there are so many basketball training drills available, it’s mighty hard to find the right one.

Actually, there are three training drills that have proven to be most helpful. They include Calf Raises and Body Builders. To properly do the Calf Raise, position the balls of your feet on a raised step, letting your heels hang unsupported and push up your body with your toes. Hold for a count of three; then slowly lower your body so your heels are slightly lower than your toes. Repeat 10 times; rest; repeat for a total of three sets.

There is no other exercise that works as many leg muscles as the Body Builder. Start with your feet, shoulder width apart. Bend your knees, place the palms of your hands flat on the floor, then kick out your legs. Do a quick push-up – go all the way down and touch your chest to the floor. Push back up , bringing your knees to your chest. In one motion, push up with your legs, jump into the air and reach for the sky. It is pure torture, but this push-up exercise will put you back in the game.
