Need To Add A Couple Inches To Your Jump?
By
How do people train in order to jump higher? There are two separate schools of thought on the matter of training as it applies to athletics. The first school of thought says that strength training performed quickly which are momentum based such as medicine ball training, plyometric exercises, and the power clean will result in more strength in sports. The second school of thought believes that weight training and the game field or track are separate and that there is no direct transfer between the two, and therefore power is gained by repeating the sports activity over and over.
Increasing power is a result of increasing strength through the muscles ability to produce force. High intensity training is a safe and productive way to increase power. Also, increasing the distance at which force is applied while keeping force and time constant is another way to increase power. This is achieved by working on full motion strength and flexibility and stretching.
Also, decreasing time that force is applied while keeping force and distance constant increases speed. This also affects athletic power. This requires performing the skill over and over again in repetitious skill practice
.
The last two areas of focus are body fat reduction, or the loss of dead weight, which inhibits skill and flexibility, and overall conditioning, achieved through aerobic and anaerobic exercise. Focus on all these areas will help add inches to your jump.
